Name: Miyamoto Katsura
Age: 42
Village:Iwagakure no Sato
Rank: S-Rank Missing Nin
Alias: Zura
Personality:
Bold, intelligent and wise, Katsura is a man who has obtained a wealth of knowledge over his lifetime. Regardless, he is a simple man. He suffers from no disorders of any kind and holds a decently high moral standard, which is unquestionable. A soft exterior often keeps his emotions blank and invisible, he is placid, making him hard to judge by apperance alone. As a man who has studied countless books and scrolls on the inner workings of the human mind, Katsura can configure a persons personality within a matter of minutes of talking to them. This allows him to either befriend someone, or open the options that he needs in order to successfully interrogate an individual for information.
Katsura is no perfectionist, nor is he eccentric by any means. A man of his experience and calibre knows that certain things must be abided by and trained upon in order to survive, as well as achieve success in life. He is no motivator by any means, though his very presence can be considered chilling. Katsura does not stake any claim to being a strong ninja, nor does he carry himself in such a manner. While many ninja boast titles of their skill, Katsura prefers to be a fly on the wall, hanging in the background. He prefers to be hidden than out in the open for all to see.
There is one main flashpoint in his life which has changed Katsura's vision entirely. The death of his wife caused him to go into a vicious circle of depression and hatred, unlike any he had ever experienced before. In fact, it is part of why he left his village. Her death set upon a new change in Katsura for the rest of his life. A hate so brutal for the existence of many ninja, which sparked him to work hard to become the best that he could be.
He turned his back on those whom he had previously loved. Inside, he became nothing but a shell of his former beliefs and feelings that he had expressed. Only had he ever loved that one person, who took everything to the grave with her. This caused Katsura to develop a hate, firmly set in his heart for the ninja village system, all the pain it had caused since its formation. Any excuse for war and death - something they would all come to regret sooner or later he believed.
While he has become a man of rage when the time is upon him, Katsura is a hermit of sorts, travelling around and making home within natures confines. Since he cannot admittedly enjoy life like he once used to, he takes relaxation into the world of nature and its growing magnificence itself, finding a sort of self harmony with it.
Being alone is the best kind of company for him. He does not seek companionship, nor does he particularly enjoy the company of others. Since seemingly dwelling into being a hermit, his social interaction has been that of only the thoughts in his own mind. The only good point of this, is that he has developed some sort of hardened patience, particularly through carving shogi pieces from stone and using them to play against himself.
Apperence:
Katsura has a very war-beaten face. His cheek bones are rather chiseled, his nose quite broad and his eyebrows very pointed. The only unusual feature he has which is natural are his eyes, which are a rather light, burgandy orange colour, similar to that of his fathers. Across his face are multiple scars from battles, given the extent of which could say he has been in more than his fair share.
His black hair is often difficult to control. It always strands and branches outwards from his actual head, stretching down over his forehead and hugging around his neck. It is usually quite long, actually below shoulder legnth but it is often kept bundled up much like a samurai would keep their hair. His eyebrows are rather thick, while his goatee and chin beard is neatly trimmed as his facial hair.
Clearly Katsura is a man with a strong physical devotion. He boasts a muscular build and commitment which is very powerful, typical of a man from Iwagakure. His 'hard like stone' attitude has caused him to centre alot of time around Taijutsu as well as his other techniques. While his body isn't extremely bulked, it is rather slender, but with a muscular tone like that of a Greek god.
While usually when relaxing he is found in a simple hakama, his travelling attire consists of something entirely different. He wears that which is much like a midnight blue samurai plated armour, chest-piece, graves, gauntlets and the like. A thick leather plating across his stomach which is tied around his back in order to keep a little bit of extra protection upon him. His sandals are black and casual, but covered at the top with armour. Over this he wears a sleeveless long coat, enscribed on the back with "Hermit" in kanji.
History:
Miyamoto Katsura, born to Miyamoto Jinpachi and Aiko. He was born into the Miyamoto clan, a clan who followed specific rituals and held certain beliefs that were not widespread through-out Iwagakure. The clan held the belief that when an elder of the clan died, their spirit, energy and experience was passed into the next new born, who would carry it with them until they themselves passed away and thus, the cycle continued. The new-born would one day be expected to lead the clan, as their elder once did. Katsura was extremely lucky to be born within this cycle and thus, would be the heir to the clan in the future.
Unlike other clans, where the heir's and leaders would receive a sort of special treatment, the Miyamoto were different. They believed that hard work was the only way to achieve progress and so, when he came of age, Katsura was inducted into the academy to begin his life as a ninja. Unknowing of his future role, Katsura at first did not appear to like the life that a ninja was expected to uphold. Highly disciplined, lots of work, lots of hours put into learning jutsu. As a young child, it was alot for him to take in. Still, he was determined like those of his clan and wanted to prove a point and so, he tried his hardest in order to succeed.
It was then he befriended a boy named Hijikata. The two shared similar likes and dislikes, which really made them tight knitted together in the long run. Both of them graduated the academy at age six and were put into the same cell together, seeing as they would better adapt to the team-work required.
His sensei was a peculiar man, a man who Katsura took much of his ideals from. His name was Ichirou, the confident and silent type. Much of his personality rubbed off on Katsura, the way he handled himself and conducted himself made him highly respected around the village and to top it off - he was a very strong ninja for Iwagakure. His training methods were a bit more brutal than some would anticipate, most of it consisted of fighting each other and learning each others combat style so they could adapt to it in the real battlefield. A high emphasis on team-work, but at the same time, caused conflict within the cell.
Mizuki was the third member of their squad, a rather beautiful girl, who both Katsura and Hijikata had a similar attraction to. Katsura himself however was much more shy and wasn't very prone to approaching a girl such as the confident Hijikata was. It was something that irked upon him time and time again and didn't see himself getting over.
As the Chuunin exams rolled around, Katsura was given words of encouragement by his sensei, having been told he could accomplish anything he wanted if he just had a bit of confidence in himself. This made him strive to give him sensei something back in return and that was by taking on the exams head first.
The first two tests were passed rather plainly, without much difficulty at all. Katsura was able to pinpoint the strategies and problems needed to overcome the obstacles. It was the final round, where Genin were pited against each other in order to progress that made things a little more dramatic. Who else would Katsura draw but Hijikata. They both had made a bet in the middle of the arena, that whoever won, would have the opportunity to be with Mizuki. Katsura willingly accepted the wager.
Their battle was the longest of the tournament and there were many complaints from their sensei, that the chances of both of his students being forced to face each other in a duel to the last one standing was absurd. Both of them were broken and scarred and eventually, it had turned out Hijikata had defeated Katsura. Both of them were later hospitalised for their show and both were promoted for their determination.
The group returned home, with Katsura's parents giving him a proud returning dinner. For that whole day however, Katsura did not eat, nor did he come out of his room for the entirety of it. He was ashamed that he let his family down and ashamed he didn't have the strength to pull through and win Mizuki over. It made him cringe but he had to accept it and honour what he and Hijikata's duel meant. They were still friends of course but severe rivals at the same time. It gave him alot to think about, but also alot to carry on in his stride.
A few years had passed and Katsura had made Jounin by age eighteen, something he was particularly proud of. Mostly it was due to the creativity of his techniques and his unquestionable ability to solve problems and change the tide of a mission just through a patient process of thought. Both Hijikata and Mizuki had both become Jounin too, it was a great moment for their sensei. It was unfortunate however, that he passed away due to a progressing stomach disease which he had been fighting for a long time.
At the funeral, both Katsura and Hijikata swore that they would put their rivalry behind them and hold nothing against each other. It was the least they could have done out as a sign of respect for their former mentor. This also brought Katsura and Mizuki closer to each other and they soon entered a relationship. Hijikata, dismayed that Katsura would break the promise that was held in their fight during the Chuunin exams, challenged him once more.
The two took it to an empty field in order to battle. What was once a field turned into an overturned landscape, in which Katsura was the winner at the end of the fight. He returned Hijikata to the village and explained what had happened, alas resulting in a suspension of his Jounin duties for a few weeks. It was the last time Hijikata and Katsura had been seen together for years after.
Upon reaching his thirties, he and Mizuki were married and were planning on having a child. That was until Katsura returned from duty to find that Mizuki had been slaughtered on their floor, blood covering the walls. Enraged, Katsura assumed it could only have been one person who would have killed her and he passed the blame on to Hijikata. It was then so that Katsura decided that he would kill Hijikata and avenge his fallen lover, before fleeing the village and the ridiculous system that the ninja followed these days, for he had lost someone he loved from it.
Hijikata was found with a blade through his stomach, laying in his household. Before he died however, he tried to persuade Katsura that he would never kill a former team-mate. With both of those who he had once cherished killed, he fled the village in seek of peace and away from the ninja world.
He had become a hermit of sorts. Moving from place to place, learning new things and taking them to practice. In short he had started practicing seals, as well as various kinjutsu, though not for the reason of having them alter himself or other people. It was mostly written curiousity. In short it was mostly to defend himself, as there were still many hunter ninja and ANBU on the look out for him, assuming that he had gone insane and killed both Mizuki and Hijikata.
For now, he simply wanders the ninja world in seek of knowledge and when the time calls for it - confrontation.
