OKAY, WHY DON'T YOU TELL US A LITTLE ABOUT YOUR FABULOUS SELF?
When he was a child, Nagato was a sweet boy who was kind, Sensitive and even if it came to saving his friends was completely horrified by the thought of killing someone. He was never sure what he purpose life was but knew whatever it had to be it would involve defending his friends. Konan was one of his closest friends growing up and even nick named her 'Angel' to show how close she was to him. He would never let harm to come to her and even while they were training with their master Jiraiya he defended her without being told to every time, and apparently she is the only member in the Akatsuki who will address him by his real name.
When he became Pain, his entire personality changed through the hardships and horrors he saw when the three of them were left with themselves. He became a serious, aloof, calm person who was detached from pretty much everything in life. He even developed a new philosophy about how the horrid experiences he had growing up as well as all the pain he had to deal with, transformed him into a self proclaimed deity, and was above that of a mere human. As a result, his plans became simple, to show the world the true meaning of pain and misery which would help end conflict and fighting between other nations. His friend Yahiko, before he was killed by Nagato's own hands to save himself and Konan, told him that no one can understand true peace unless they first understand 'true' pain and still believes in that.
Despite all of this he still has a respect for the dead and is constantly ceasing all bickering between the members of the Akatsuki to try and get them to develop a strong bond with each other. He runs the Akatsuki along side the only person he truly trusts in the world, Konan who is his Angel.

Konan: Konan is the only person that Nagato has left from his past since Yahiko passed. She is always by his side and follows his orders without question. She cares deeply for Nagato, showing even a romantic side when it comes to him and would make sure no harm would come to him.
Yahiko: Nagato's best friend from the days of old and he was the one person in the small group of three that kept them all together with his tough attitude. Sadly thanks to Hanzo, Yahiko was killed by Nagato which caused Nagato to fall of the path he was on and down the dark road. Yahiko was taken and was incorporated into the six paths of Pain as the God Path.
Jiraiya: The teacher of the three Amegakure Orphans, it was thanks to him that the three were able to grow up into strong shinobi to help fight for their country. Sadly when he left and the events that had happened with Hanzo, Nagato no longer sees Jiraiya as someone of importance any longer.
