When Kankuro and his siblings where younger, their dad would take them to circus every time it came to the village. Him and his dad would always go see Uemura Bunrakuken's Puppet Show and he loved it. He didn't just love it because of the puppets, but because it was the only time he got to spend quality time with his dad. After the show, Kankuro's dad would tell him tales about great shinobi who used puppets during battle, and Kankuro would stare at him starry eyed, hanging on to every word.   Then one day Uemura and his puppet show had been massacred by some bandits on their way to Sunagakure. To Kankuro it was as if he lost the only thing connecting him and his father. He was hopeless to reestablish this connection and began putting together his own puppet show. It amused his father at first, but it wasn't the same. When he became a genin he started using puppets as weapons rather than entertainment. He eventually got his hands on Karasu and figured that if he really wanted to get his father's attention he would need to become the greatest puppeteer ninja to ever hail from the land of Sunagakure.   Kankuro became overly confident in his abilities as shinobi, to the point where it began to impair the very talents he was so proud of. As he grew, he learned to perfect the arts of puppetry and even gathered puppets created by one of the fabled shinobi his father told him about.   Kankuro's abilities are not the only things that have improved in recent years. His relationship with his brother, who he once feared, changed tremendously. The fear he had dissolved, and the two became true brothers. They told each other everything and shared the same dream; To give their life protecting Sunagakure. The relationship he has with Gaara also allowed him to form a closer bond with his sister, Temari, and he has grown very protective of his family.   To cope with his disadvantage at close combat he has learned to act deceptively in battle and his strategic and intuitive way of thinking makes him an outstanding tactician. His unconditional respect and loyalty along with his quick thinking, and creativity makes him an asset to any team he accompanies. [/style]

On his back he carries three scrolls that contain his puppets. His face is painted with purple kabuki make-up that can vary in design from time to time. He has black gloves and has kind of dull brown eyes. He's tall and has a thin medium build. Kankuro stands at a fairly average height of five foot seven inches. He isn’t extremely buff but he isn’t chubby or skinny either, he just has a sort of medium build. His eyes are a dull brown and his spikey hair is of the same color. [/style]

The trials of the exams were a piece of cake for the trio. Kankuro breezed through the first portion of the exam by disguising his puppet Crow as one of the protectors and getting the correct answers for the test. The 2nd portion, however, was even easier. Within minutes of the test beginning, the sand siblings located a team from Amegakure who Gaara brutally murdered, allowing them to take the scroll they needed.   During the preliminaries of the third trial, Kankuro was paired against Misumi Tsurugi. Misumi appeared to have the upper hand against Kankuro, quickly wrapping himself around Kankuro and breaking his neck. Before the match could be called, it is reveled that the Kankuro Misumi attacked was really Crow in disguise. Kankuro quickly made Crow constric his opponent and crush all of his bones.   A month later, during the final matches, Kankuro was scheduled to fight Shino Aburame. However, he was to play a vital role in the invasion of Konoha and forfeited the match. Kankuro later fought Shino anyway, while trying to escort an injured Gaara out of the village during the start of the invasion.   Kankuro helps Kiba Inuzuka fight Sakon and Ukon with his new puppet, Black Ant, while trying to bring Sasuke Uchiha back to Konoha. Sometime afterwards he also acquires yet another puppet, Salamander, and is promoted to Jonin. [/style]
